I was born in MN but lived in TN and TX as a kid and spent 2 years in AL in the Army. But, I have lived back in MN since 1976. I scored 73% Dixie. Speech habits formed in youth don’t go away.
I grew up in Texas but when I went into the military, I was stationed with guys from NY, NH, MA, and picked up their accents. When I’d go home on leave, it was “You talk like a Yankee.” But when I’d go up north (I was stationed in Virginia), they’d say, “You’re from the south, aren’t you?”

(Don't mind me. I'm just a contrarian.)
