Even an ‘older’ system logs file access at the sever level, not necessarily ‘who’ but ‘where’, what terminal and what record and for how long. All they would have to do is see who all was logged in at that location at that time...........
Yes, they broke the laws and should be fired, if they did it.
Now, having said that, they and the hospital are open to a lawsuit by Smollett.......................
And yet Jussie hasn’t been fired from Empire for his hoaxcrime.
Yep, unless this breach was indeed "accidental" then what we have here is the private sector enforcing the law and holding people responsible and accountable. Unlike our government, allowing private servers with top secret information, IRS illegally and politically harassing groups filing for exempt status, the list goes on and on to including Congress illegally leaking stuff, yet not ONE person has been help accountable.
They just finished the season, with him written out of the last two episodes.
He probably will be written out or replaced by another actor............
Agreed. People that work in the medical field that have access to patients records KNOW that you can’t just look up a name without having a good reason for doing so (ie. you are one of the practitioners that is involved in the care of the patient).
This is a good thing. Ive seen people whacked after a celebrity was treated in the hospital I worked at.
He was a nice guy. He was a great patient. He thanked everyone for being professional. And if the National Enquirer knew he was there someone could had made some cash. But not enough to give up their healthcare career.
Yeah, true enough.
But they did not come out and fire him. He’s not been fired.
Correction: Essence, without any proof, reported that dozens of employees at Northwestern Hospital have been terminated for allegedly accessing Jussie Smolletts medical records.
It’s a BS story by the commie left designed to scare anyone from attacking the Bolshevik, racist hero Smollett.
This brings up an entirely different issue — privacy. It doesn’t exist. There’s always a clerk somewhere with untrammeled access to otherwise “private” records. Ask “Joe the Plumber”. Get famous for the wrong thing and you’ll be outed.
It is only an issue because it disparages a RAT! There now needs to be an investigation, an IMPARTIAL investigation, into all inappropriately accessed medical files! Not holding my breath for that!
Ive worked with some older systems where even some sleuthing couldnt get that for you, but that was a ways back...
Yes many medical records are outsourced to Indian and other countries. A few years ago someone in India I think threatened to put them on the internet unless the contracted company paid her more.
