In her book "What Happened", she said "It was a nod to bipartisanship (blue plus red equals purple).”
Her lips were moving so she's lying. They don't want bi-partisanship. To them bi-partisan means "same as me".
Closer to when it happened, there was a reason given (by who ? that's lost in time) that it was a "code" to turn red states purple.
