Eliminating just a fraction of the world’s population would radically change the world economy and eliminate a portion of our lifestyle. What amount of our lifestyle that gets eliminated depends on how many are no longer participating (dead) in the world’s economy. Cheap shoes, clothing, cell phones, TV’s, gasoline, oil, Liquid Natural Gas, food, cars...all depend on having a market and in having a supply chain. A disruption anywhere in the supply or manufacturing would have a cascading effect that would impact everything we hold dear, like eating. Civilization as we know it, with just 500 million, would be impossible.
It would be like a feudal society. The small, debauched, rich “enlightened” elites being served by a large de facto slave class providing for those aforementioned things (but unlikely to use them as they can’t afford them). Elimination of that pesky middle class and their ‘bourgeois’ religious values.
