There were a lot of us that didn’t register until we had lurked a long time.
I actually used to visit a MS Chat room with Yellow Rose of Texas, Two-Thirds Vote Aye, Amom, Towanda and RAH in 98 while I lurked on the main site for about a year. Didn’t actually join an post on the site until May of 99 but had been “here” for most of ‘98.
I don’t remember exactly when I started lurking, but it was certainly in ’98. IIRC I was still lurking when I attended the March for Justice. And that was near Halloween of ’98, IIRC.
Yep times were different and computers were much slower back then.
I actually joined a couple of months earlier under a different screen
name. But for some reason one day it wouldn’t let me log in and Jim
couldn’t figure out the problem. He told me to use a new name and
sign up again. So I did.
FR has gone thru some growing pains but it does offer a good source
for local and national/world events.
DUDE !!!!! ( or Dudette ? )...we had to run into each other. John Gibson\Soledad O’Brien among others and MSNBC chat.
Every now an again they took a chat question and put it on the air.
We were a small band of conservatives who took the hits and kept on coming.
We’d fill up a room and force them to open another chat room, hit and run there then go to the next room.
We’d hit ‘em with facts and they called us names as a response.
Nothing has changed.
Tough to have multiple mIRC clients open.
My memory is kind of hazy, but we would have a Trivia Night in one of the rooms - could be music or movies.
Doing it all over a modem and DX-486...crazy times...
