On a recent thread Resettozero happened to tweek newfreep on the fact that, dating from 1999, that screen name was now a little funny. And it dawned on me that Id been looking forward to my 20th anniversary of FReeperdom.
Whoopsie! that was the day before yesterday!
Congrats. I came on board in Feb. 1998.
Long-termers. Lifers.
I dont remember exactly when I started lurking, but it was certainly in 98. IIRC I was still lurking when I attended the March for Justice. And that was near Halloween of 98, IIRC.
Happy Birthday!
Yep times were different and computers were much slower back then.
I actually joined a couple of months earlier under a different screen
name. But for some reason one day it wouldn’t let me log in and Jim
couldn’t figure out the problem. He told me to use a new name and
sign up again. So I did.
FR has gone thru some growing pains but it does offer a good source
for local and national/world events.
Mine is 1998 also.
June 1999 is my sign on date but I remember freeping before that.
I just went and looked. I created my account Feb 26, 1998, so I guess I am now “legal” (21). What is sad for me is thinking back and remembering some of my Freeper friends who are no longer with us.
19 years as of Dec 8th......
Yes as some passed away some of the Freepers nearby
would attend the funerals and report.
Dec. 5, 1997...in my 22nd year.
I seldom post anymore. It is difficult to put in my half cent (not worth two cents) at my age.
Well, on April 16, 1999 I was a new freeper (I’d been lurking for a few months) so perhaps I should change my screen name to oldfreep?
Or perhaps I’ll always be “newfreep” since life is an ever learning process.
I’ll go with the latter...sure easier than trying to change my screen name.
Mine is in September.
Welcome to the club.
In the late 90s FR was like a fellowship for impeachment and protest. Libertarians, Paleo-Cons, Neocons, Old Guard Repubs, Blue Nile and White Nile, we all got along enough to make common cause — We pounded away at our keyboards and when our spouses said, come to dinner, we hollered back, “Don’t bother me, I’m busy Impeaching.”
Congratulations! This is certainly hugh & series! Perhaps you should plan a little jaunt to Thailand. Or check out some sister-biting moose, or stuned beeber? Oh the Hugh Manatee!
Maybe ask Jim Thompson if he has any suggestions on how to celebrate!??!
Take a shower? Boating accident involving weapons? Sammich?
You’ve likely seen it all!
Congrats, cIc!
Only two days late remembering, not bad since memory goes south with age. :^)
Dont bother me, Im busy Impeaching.

Good one.

You must have been one of the lucky ones. Mine
would holler “what are you going to get for us to
eat and when are you going”? I’m hungry.
I just went and looked.
Where??????
