How a nuclear war between India and Pakistan could reverse global warming
Washington Examiner ^ | 02/27/2019 | Philip Klein

To be abundantly clear, what follows isn't meant as a how-to guide advocating nuclear war as some sort of out-of-the box alternative solution to climate change. It's meant as a description of the science surrounding how a theoretical regional nuclear war could affect the Earth's atmosphere, and thus the climate, even for people not directly in the blast radius.

Though they weren't looking specifically at the current India-Pakistan conflict, in 2011, NASA scientists released a report based on a model that predicted the climate effects of the use of 100 Hiroshima-size bombs in a regional conflict. Though this would not be as intense as full-scale nuclear war between superpowers, such as the threat that existed between the U.S. and USSR during the Cold War, it still would be expected to have a dramatic effect on the climate.

That's because the bombs would inject up to 5 megatons of black carbon into the upper troposphere, the highest point of the lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere. As National Geographic wrote, "In NASA climate models, this carbon then absorbed solar heat and, like a hot-air balloon, quickly lofted even higher, where the soot would take much longer to clear from the sky."

Little Boy was only 15 kilotons according to Wikipedia so 1,500 kilotons (1.5megatons) in the total exchange doesn’t sound like too much. Maybe that should be the over/under.

Yeah. Except we stopped doing those tests.

And look what happened - the earth started heating up again!

The new liberal protest chant:

“More more nukes!
More more nukes!
More more nukes!”

(Obviously we don’t need a war to use them.)

It wouldn’t surprise me if some day they actually go ahead with one of their crazy solutions to try to change the climate.

Back in the 70’s with the cooling scare, some scientists thought that covering the polar ice caps with oil and coal dust to soak up the heat would be a good idea!

What will determine the winner?
Whichever country is upwind.

Any single volcano releases more energy. Hawaii alone should destroy the world or the Philippines or Iceland or the thousand and one volcanoes under the ocean.

Will they or won’t they?

The Chinese were bumping horns with India not so long ago. China may need a major dust-up to take attention away from their economic issue.

Now that is a bizarre way to find a silver lining in a dark cloud. It’s rather sick to even posit this.

Hey, China.

You know those Ugyars that’ve been making a mess out of your western parts? You know they get a lot of help from the Pakis, right?

And you know that the “tribal area” in Paki land is mineral rich, right?

Also, the ports... those’d put you a fair bit closer to all that Africa investment you’ve been putting up.

Not sayin, just saying.

Uh huh, all those nuclear tests and it didn’t happen. 2 more bombs detonated won’t change things.

How would we know the Pakis and the Hindis were having a nuclear war?

I live in Austin, Texas and the Pakis and Hindis have been having a nuclear war here for the last ten or so years.

I can only hope they annihilate themselves when they go to a real nuclear war over in southern Asia. I just hope the a-—holes living in Austin (Which was on Kim Jung Un’s target list—probably because of the Pakis and the Hindis living here) go back to their s-—hold country first.

During the testing program of the USA and USSR we exploded many thermonuclear weapons often that were hundreds of times greater than the Hiroshima bomb. Albeit over uninhabited areas with little to burn.

2053 exploded world wide.

The cynical portion of me says, “Yeah, the global warming crowd instigated this conflict to ‘do something’ about global warming.”
They did recently put out that “nuclear war would reverse global warming” a few days back and voila, two nuclear powers are now duking it out and hurling threats.
