My doctor told me that if I started using testosterone gel that I would need to continue forever. If I stopped, the crash would be unbearable. He said it was for extreme cases only, not just for a “boost”. OTC testosterone boosters are basically snake oil. Get in the gym and lift some heavy things instead.

I agree. I got lucky when I started working out years and years ago; I just happened to walk into an old-fashioned gym where they didn't allow any drugs, no steroids, nothing like that. And they made me pretty strong over the years.

The owner prided himself on turning 90-lb weaklings into something nobody in his right mind would want to "mess with." He was most proud of turning, in 20 years, one particular 90-lb high school kid with polio into 275 lbs of solid muscle who could walk up to a parking meter and bend it over to the ground. Think he had a low T problem? I don't think so!

My advice to the original poster: Eat right, find a good gym, stay away from drugs, don't be in a rush.

I can vouch for this post. My doctor said I had very low T for 57 and recommended I take testosterone. He said the benefits would be over all feeling better, better mood, sex drive boost, weight loss, improved stamina and potential hair growth on my head. I started with the cream, this is nasty stuff and you have to be very careful not to transfer it to your wife. I then tried the patch, but did not like it ether. Then I went to the needle with two injections a week. That's using a 1 1/5" needle that you jab completely into your leg. At first, they way overshoot my needs and it was hard on my wife. Then we got my level about right. The only benefit I saw was an increased sex life. After about a year, I decided I wanted to stop. My doctor recommended I cut my dose in half, but his office screwed-up and I did not get a refill for two weeks. Being as I had been without for almost 2 weeks, I decided to quit cold turkey on my own. There were a few rough days in all of that, but I survived it. Now it's been 3 or 4 months and I have no residual effects other then a loss of sex drive. For me it is not worth it, it is very difficult on the way up and on the way down on this stuff.
