CBS Evening News had a short blurb on [RR] tonight.
Jotted down some on the fly notes:
Narrative:
- No full transparency
- Seem to be “low expectation”
- [RR] said govt should not release information on individuals who have not been charged with a crime
- Transparency will be discussed in the coming week
- Barr’s decision on what is released
- Dem Senator Ed Markay (MA) said if Barr is hiding information they would subpoena the info
- DOJ historicaly reluctant to prosecute a sitting president
- Ended with emphasizing Barr makes decision what will be released.
My nutshell take: R’s will try to hide info against 45 but the defender’s of democracy will fight for info to be released against the president, but not on any Democrats under investigation.

FTA:
“Speaking broadly on the subject of transparency, Rosenstein said there are “a lot of reasons” for the U.S. government not to be transparent about its work.
“One of the challenging issues we face in the department and this is an issue that, you know, we’ll be discussing nationally is the question of whether transparency is a good thing,” he said. “You know, there’s a knee-jerk reaction to suggest that we should be transparent about what we do in government.”
“There are a lot of reasons not to be transparent about what we do in government,” he added.”
