Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself last week from the investigation into a reported attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett “out of an abundance of caution” because she spoke to one of his relatives after it was reported and acted as a go-between with Chicago police, one of Foxx’s aides told the Tribune on Wednesday.

Empire’s ratings suck and have been declining for years.

But ratings aren’t why the net has renewed it. It’s the demographics. If A-As get turned off as a result of this mess, the show’s toast.

Smollett pissed off the Empiire cast in at least two ways.

Three:

He wanted a raise and he tried to get more money with these stupid stunts. His fellow cast members are veteran actors who have been in Hollywood for longer than this puke has been alive. They have 'paid their dues', working their way up the ladder of success, enduring many times of unemployment, going to 'cattle calls', auditioning for parts and not getting them, and having disappointments time and time again. And this punk gets the plum job of a lifetime just handed to him on a silver platter, and he thinks he's better than they are? He endangers ALL their careers with these idiot shenanigans? I'm surprised they didn't attack him with REAL NOOSES!...........................

That is what I think. This disaster will have people who have never even heard of the show, checking it out. That is one reason they kept on saying they were not firing him etc. As they say, there is no bad publicity. So, they can encourage the “divide” in the crew/staff/actors/writers etc. It will probably even be incorporated into a story line.

Hoaxer Smollett came out as gay during a televised interview with Ellen DeGeneres in March 2015.

In a 2016 interview with Out magazine, Smollett clarified his sexual orientation by stating “If I had to label myself, I would label myself as a gay man.” However, he stated his belief that openness to love is more important than gender, revealing that “If I fall in love down the road with a woman, I’m going to love that woman.”

As a boy, Smollett had some romantic interest in girls. When Smollett’s gay character Jamal Lyon from Empire engaged in a tryst with a female character, Smollett defended the plot development by stating that he and Empire creator Lee Daniels were trying to create a conversation about sexual fluidity in the gay community.

Daniels has stated that “Jussie and I both share the same feeling that, yes, even though we are gay, we’re sexual human beings. And we do occasionally want to sleep with a woman.” Daniels stated that “We’re showing life on Empire”, in that both he and Smollett were incorporating their own sexual fluidity as gay men into Empire.
