My dad told the story of one of Mao’s “leap forward” projects.
It seems Mao noticed song birds nibbling spilled grain in the fields and concluded the birds were a threat to the Chinese. He ordered that all such birds be killed to leave more grain for farmers to collect.
The birds were destoyed in great numbers, resulting in massive insect damage to the same crops the following year.
Genius !
I remember that! They had films of them shooting every bird they saw.
That is a typical leftist thought process. Their history all over the world is full of these “unexpected” ramifications.
They are supposed to be the smartest people in the room, but when they conduct warfare in a way contrary to the way warfighters suggest it, or run an economy contrary to the fundamental principles of economics, or manage a wildlife system by trying to rig so they get a result, they are continually presented with lost wars, failed economies, and ecological disasters.
And they always shrug their shoulders, exclaim “This was unexpected!” and instantly forget the lesson they should have learned.
Next time a war comes around, an economic decision is to be made, or a pest control problem is encountered, when Leftists are in charge, you can be damn sure there will be bad outcomes that were “unexpected”.
Damn, how I despise Leftism and Leftists.
