You are right. BUT, the MSM is at the point where it carefully excludes information that is in any way positive toward the President, and toward the Republican Party.
Here’s the problem with your statement for people to “Develop filters!”
You are bright, and have good discernment. The average American has an IQ of 100, give or take. They accept what the reporters tell them, at least partially because they don’t have the skills to look up an alternative view. In addition, they get hit 24/7 with OrangeManBad, so it must be true.
For decades, the Republican Party has been presented to the masses as the center from which all racism and plain old evil comes. We know differently.
I’ll put aside for the moment that media has done similar things since the beginning.
In my life time the media has been lying about the GOP & it’s candidates\President since Goldwater. (Roughly about the time I became politically aware!)
I don’t it see as any great intellectual achievement simply to be skeptical.
Also I would 1no more cede to you the power to decide “truth\untruth, fact, fiction, factoid, whatever”. Not because I think you’re a bad guy or gal, but because such a power no person or group should have in a free society. (I’ll decide fact, fiction, what-not!). If you’re not bad now such power will make you so!
As the Cronkite-Huntley\Brinkley generations pass the power of the MSM wans. Most Xs-Millenials-etc live on the Internet for better or worse. That’s the battlefield now, Trump plays it well but could do much better. For example keeping the archaic press conferences are a huge mistake! It just creates a stage for people like Acosta. The Internet is a digital gigantic “carnival-sideshow carnival-peepshow yard sale tent revival shouting mob commercial mall” of goods & information. A good percentage of the goods are shoddy and as is a much higher percentage of the information (95%-99%). Its just so big the few commercial & information nuggets are there and golden. Some people aren’t equipped to handle it properly well that’s been true since someone could stand up and demagogue a crowd. I would still prefer to let ordinary people handle it and fail then let some all-seeing all-knowing entity government, private or religious do it for me. I will make my own mistakes, Thank you very much!
