Before Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism, did anyone ever hear of, or actually use the word “tropes”?

Somehow, I managed to never hear of, or use, this word in my entire life.

I had never heard the word before either.

Furthermore, I fail to see how her anti-Semitic comments could be termed a trope.
