Although I have spent most of my teaching career in rural communities, I have also taught in city school systems. Most, not all, but most teachers who have been my colleagues share with our students history and patriotism and the values upon which our nation was founded...
As a teacher, I can only reinforce that which begins at home. Hopefully, I am imparting academic knowledge and challenging students to THINK.
Then again... I am a 7th-grade teacher of mathematics where it seems like everybody hates math and inform me that they can’t do math. Students and parents.
Apparently, the procedure and expectations from my childhood are long-gone. However, homeroom students throughout my tenure have been expected to stand/recite The Pledge of Allegiance and observe a “moment of silence”.
Although teachers acknowledge and share, we are merely planters of seeds.
Please. Refrain from stating absolutes.
