Talk show host Doc Thompson was killed by a train, of all things. I cannot explain this logic. Why would anyone jog along a railroad track of an active rail line? This is a tragedy, and he leaves behind a family at his home in Arkansas. RIP, Doc.

Depends on location. A Boston reporter was checking out the scene of a train/pedestrian accident, and the he almost got nailed by a train [above ground part of a subway line] that appeared from around a corner with no warning.
Granted, he shouldn’t have been there, just like the pedestrian was.
He was either killed or committed suicide, imo. The man could not have been that dumb.

Dont confuse careless with dumb.

Look! Tracks!
What made them?
Should I follow them?
Will the thing that made them come back?
If the thing made them is that big, should I avoid the tracks?
How can I avoid the thing that made these tracks?
Ear buds or headphones are OK, though it makes a lot of sense to plug only one. As he discovered the hard way.

Where’s Willie Green when we need him?
I think he watched Rocky maybe one to many times.
You know when I go out for a run, I always look for a nice smooth railroad track to run along. Beats the hell out of say the rough sidewalks, roads or park paths. Only thing that scares me is when the train suddenly for no reason swerves off the track towards me!
“Lots of respectable people have been hit by trains. Judge Hoover over in Cookville was hit by a train.” Holly HUnter in O Brother, Where Art Thou?
My wife and I once crossed some tracks near a beach community in California. There were trees and undergrowth obscuring the warning sign and the tracks; we didn’t even realize the crossing was there. A train missed us by no more than 20 feet. It scared the beegeebees out of us.
I feel bad for the Train Engineer. He will have to live with this for the rest of his life.
He wasn't blind. Surely he could see that he was jogging on railroad tracks.
Are they SURE he was jogging along the tracks? Could liberal attackers have grabbed him up and thrown him in front of the train? < /conspiracy theory >
?Yeah, my house gets really pi$$ed off when the train whistle a quarter mile away blows...
