The term “troll” seems to have been stretched very wide indeed. In internet terms, I’d thought of it as someone directly harassing someone else, especially anonymously.... i.e., one would have to be commenting directly on a person’s web page, Fakebook page, Twitter feed, etc. to be considered a “troll” to them.

But now it seems that anyone who posts any negative remark anywhere, even on one’s own blog, can be disparaged as a “troll”....

It’s all “academic” to me since I don’t have a blog or Twatter, etc. But if I comment on an article here on FR to say that Macron is a jerk or Merkel is unattractive, does that now make me a terrible “internet troll”?? Weird usage.

In FR terms, at least on the Nutwad Secret Thread aka Open Forum for the Disturbed, anyone who questions or dissents from the party line is a troll, at least according to the cultists who reside there.
