Sensationalism aside, I think this is based on some extrapolation of the numbers of native peoples that succumbed to imported bacterial and viral infections. Some demographers put the loss of natives living in central Mexico during this period to be in the 75% range.

How about the deaths of tens of Millions, perhaps as many as a hundred million by two men? If we’re going to play let’s compare the genocide that is. I mean, in what ways did the deaths of so many millions in Europe and Russia, including military-aged men, affect the demographics Culture, and success of that part of the world?
