That's my theory: two black gays having a S&M romp involving a noose. It goes bad, and he makes up this cover story.

How likely is it that two Trump supporters would be hanging around at 2 am in Chicago on a bitterly cold night, and would just happen to have a noose and a bottle of bleach? How likely is it that they would instantly recognize this bundled-up actor, or know that he was gay? How likely is it that Trump supporters would even watch his show and know who he was?
