DeVos needs to get on the ball with fixing public education. She is a weak sister imho and needs to be replaced. I posted a link and maybe part of an article the other day about how she is refusing, due to fear of being called racist, to draw attention to the fact that 0b0la’s school policies of not punishing wrongdoings by students let to stuff like the Parkland massacre. I don’t even know if she has ended that insane policy. Can’t punish wrong doers in schools since more black kids are doing wrong than whites, proportionately. Evil crap needs to stop.

And it doesn’t seem that Common Core is gone either, since states are getting rid of it, but not enough of them. DeVos seems feeble.

Had to go look it up. DeVos hands are tied re: Common Core.

First, it's a state initiative.

10 states have repealed it.
(florida just added to this list . the Gov. just adiosed CC)
5 states never adopted it.
1 state delayed it til 2022
1 state pause implementation.

Second, the "Every Student Succeeds Act" (replaces No Child Left Behind ) prohibits the Department of Education from attempting to "influence, incentivize, or coerce State adoption of the Common Core State Standards ... or any other academic standards common to a significant number of States.

However, In March 2017, Republican lawmakers with the support of the Trump administration used the Congressional Review Act to eliminate the Obama administration's accountability regulations

I believe it’s possible Trump has no real use for the Federal Education Department, thus, DeVos simply keeps it room temp as a do-absolutely-nothing seat warmer.

I remember her embarrassing showing as a nominee in her confirmation hearings. Dumb as a rock, OR, pretending to be? It was impossible not to think her nomination was a pay off to a donor and/or a perfect appointee to kill the entire Department of Education. Hoot! Trump is very clever about use of subtlety, when he wants to stomp on bloated, invasive institutions.

I think it's past time for us all to make a BIG PROTEST of using our tax dollars to pay Marxists in public universities, and to pay "Diversity officers" at any level.

From what I know about one large school district (from my daughter, who interned in admin HQ), FIRING 80% of ADMIN STAFF would be a major improvement, and free up funds for books and teachers.

Eliminating all Federal controls and funding would also be a fantastic step in the right direction.
