“Powers of the Earth” - great hard sci fi returns.
“Heart of Darkness” - a classic, interesting read in our days of neo-racism.

Wick (Omnibus edition) by Michael Bunker - one of the best post-apocalyptic books I’ve read.

Galaxy’s Edge series by Nick Cole and Jason Anspach is better than Star Wars

Recently read The Meg - miles beyond the movie

When the Gods Fell - Richard Paolinelli

I listen to audiobooks in the form of CD's when I'm driving. I got into that habit a couple years ago when the only conservative talk radio hosts available in my area were Mark Levin, then going through his never-Trump phase, Glenn Beck, and Michael Medved.

Talk radio has since improved--Levin is now on the Trump train, Medved has been replaced by Sebastian Gorka and Beck is history. But I still spend a lot of time in the car listening to audiobooks.

Is it fair to say that neo-racism is the opposite of nationaism?

Currently reading “THE BOLTER”, which is a fascinating bio of Indrina Sackville, written by her great granddaughter.

The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity, Islam by Douglas Murray - how they got where they are today.

The Dark Ages by Charles Oman - on the third volume now. Fun and games with swords.

Main Currents of Marxism by Leszek Kolakowski - huge reference on the ideological wars of the 20th century.

History of the Balkans by Ferdinand Schevill. Best described as taking the Roman Catholic Church, The Byzantine Church, Islam, Asian hordes, Greeks, Romans, Slavs, Seljuk and Ottoman Turks, Armenians, Croats, Bosnians, Bulgars, Macedonians, and Serbs thrown all into a bag of cats then shaken up and poured out.

Does it explain that “Happy Valley” was a nickname stolen from Samuel Johnson?

No it doesn’t and it’s about a lot more than just her time in Africa. But since you know about Happy Valley and it’s denisons, you might enjoy this book.

I am reading “Licensed to Lie” by Sidney Powell.

How do you like it? I watched her on the Mark Levin show last night and she was riveting .

You have brought it to my attention and I am looking into the background of that interesting character. Her name, alone, brought to mind Vita Sackville-West. Her nominal husband, Sir Harold Nicholson wrote a great diary which introduced me to the pre-war era politics surrounding Churchill’s rise to power. In my youth in the 60s it was one of the first Diaries of that nature I read and still inspires memories.

My reading is all over the field. I am reading right now a good Dan Jones history of the Knights Templar and just finished a great audio book on Ty Cobb and started Marxism by Tom Sowell. I really like a new biography of Samuel Johnson I am reading and as I knew a young friend of my son’s who had Tourettes Syndrome, I find the modern take now that this is assumed with Johnson to be most interestingly illuminating. I have another 20 I am in one stage or another getting through, but my habit is to leave each book by its own place and pick it up when I sit there. That means that I have ten books over a thousand miles away at a cabin that I only read when I am there.

It sounds more complicated than it is as I have read this way for decades.

That is a great book and ESSENTIAL to understand the systemic corruption of the FBI / DOJ.

My niece gave me Educated for Christmas but I’ve yet to read it. Dealing with a detached retina and prolonged reading is still tedious, but I’m on the mend and hope to get to it before too long! Glad to hear you’ve recommended it. I look forward to reading it.

currently reading Tucker Carlson’s “Ship of Fools”.

This is a MUST read by all FReepers. Plus, it’s written in a very engaging and witty style, unlike most political tomes which are dry as mummy dust and dull as a boxcar of butter knives ...

I really can’t recommend this book highly enough ...
