I never *got* that it was said that it would be “America” who would “destroy itself from within”. I always thought it was that Russia would destroy us from the inside, since they had successfully infiltrated our institutions.
It was in that decade, during the 50’s, that Bella Dowd claimed penetration of seminaries was implemented, with “ attractive young men”, into the Roman Catholic Church.

I didn’t know who Bella Dodd was but the first thought that popped in my head was this uh, “attractive” young man: John Kerry!
Many years ago I thought I had read on Wiki that Kerry had attended seminary in Europe, but dropped out, but it’s not written that way now:
