Were we listening to the same address by President Trump?

That is just about the opposite of my take-away. I believe that he EXPECTS the Dems to be duplicitous.

He reiterated that the southern border WILL be protected regardless of what the Dems say or (don't) do.

This takes away one of the Dems biggest arguments as the Federal workers will get their back pay.

I also got the impression that he wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger on declaring a national emergency.

My first CO said something that stuck with me. He said, "When it is not necessary to make a command decision, it is necessary not to make a command decision." If you make a decision that commits the command to a course of action before it is necessary, the situation may change to where your decision becomes the wrong thing to do.

Smart guy, especially if/when the situation does change you will need another command decision to adjust. Then you live your life in the command decision loop and all your staff is worthless.

POTUS being Trump! POTUS is teaching our congress how to meet their responsbility as 1/3 part of our gov.

POTUS is forcing the dems/pubbies to be both responsible adults and congressmembers that do their constitutional duty. We will know the blackhats on both sides in three weeks. They shall be known by the fruit on their trees!
