I’ve made this point elsewhere. And I will do so again out of concern for my fellow FReepers (not that you asked).
I might agree with your sentiments. But the American legal system does not! So if you hit back too hard, you will be charged with using excessive force. And you will probably be convicted. And even if you are acquitted, your legal fees might well bankrupt you.
That’s the sad reality. The American legal system expects you to use just enough force. Go overboard, and you are in real trouble.
And that’s why I think that the guy in the video will go to jail. The DA will say that his punch was excessive. He’s strong and big, and the girl was not. The judge/jury will probably buy that.
