She was a mini. If you have land and a little barn, they are cute to have. OTOH, if you have goats you can sell the milk or drink it or make cheese. They are very good to eat too. Or you can sell them to people that like to eat them. If you have several goats, you can even rent them out to clear people’s property. You get paid, and the goats get fed.

The only thing with milk goats is they need to be milked on schedule. Otherwise their udders get messed up and it is very painful for them.

I know you’re interested in prepping, that’s why I’m posting this.

Actually I had thought about that. And before we left Bakersfield I practiced making cheese with store-bought milk. Bought all the equipment and the chemicals needed. It was fun! I even bought a little wine fridge because it would be at the right temperature for curing the cheese.

Thought about goats because cows would produce too much milk. Too much for me to handle alone. Just haven’t had a chance to get them or chickens yet. Our neighbor has goats and they sure are cute.
