Why pick on Alabama? I don’t think that ringworm is geographical. Her statement shows condescending bias against a southern state. Of course she won’t be called out for it.
I agree...its not uncommon for people ...especially kids to get ringworm.

By touching objects. The fungus that causes ringworm can linger on surfaces, clothes, towels, and in combs and brushes.

I’ve had ringworm...I thought I got mine when gardening. It was on my lower leg area.
