Gracious loser is close to an oxymoron...

Like Civil War, Happy sadness, Intelligent Liberal etc.

Course I probably don’t have to tell you that my grandsons never ‘won’ a contest with me until they actually WON.

And yes, they are stronger today for it..

BTW, their mothers(my daughters) were perfectly happy with it...

I really understand your meaning....we never sugar coated a loss ...my son would demand what he did wrong and what he could have done differently. We always gave him the truth and many times it was his back-up. Pitching needs back-up if one isn't a home run pitcher...tennis was an entirely different game...he knew it was ALL him.
