I’m just going to throw my random thoughts out here.
The liberals are very unhappy with Egypt since they overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood government that Obama and Hillary installed.
They don’t like the fact that Trump has a good relationship with Egypt and other gulf countries. They tried severing his good relationship with Saudi Arabia over the dead Muslim Brotherhood activist pretending to be a journalist, and that failed.
I’m sure they were furious with Pompeo’s speech in Cairo denouncing Obama’s policies on January 10.
