I don’t think I’ve seen that. Is that Steve Martin?

Just thinking of some of those scenes brings a smile to my face.

I watched “Arsenic and Old Lace” the other day.

I really enjoy that movie. But it makes me think of the current state of “mental health”. Would today’s professionals encourage Teddy’s delusion that he is Teddy Roosevelt and insist that everyone address him as Mr President?

I’d have to add another Billy Wilder film as Co-Number 1’s “The Seven Year Itch”

They didn’t even mention the ORIGINAL “The Producers”, which is also one of my favorites.

I’m as OLD as #1, so I guess it still tickles me. :-)

Not listed was Lost in America with Albert Brooks, and I know Jim Carey is a POS, but Dumb and Dumber was pretty funny, imo. dumb1

"I liked Bat Guano and the Coke machine."

I thought George C. Scott was great in that movie. "Sure we wouldn't get off without getting our hair mussed, but we'd prevail. I don't think we'd lose more than fifty million people, tops."

Comedy is a very subjective genre. Also a lot of it doesn’t translate very well into other languages and cultures. For that reason the silents had a broader and more universal appeal at their time than once sound came into existence. IMHO I would put The General at #1 or toss in the body of Keatons work during the 1920s. Chaplin a close second. After that one can debate the talkie era and beyond.

One Two Three is also great. I love machine gun dialog like it and His Girl Friday.

No Mel Brooks until #20? That’s not right. Am I the only one who enjoyed the Dick VanDyke movie Cold Turkey?

No...it’s English with Andie McDowell and Hugh Grant. Mr Bean - Rowan Atkinson - has a scene in there that is so beyond funny...among the others.

I’m going to have to watch it again now. :-)
