I did a bit of searching to find out the status of the Santa Monica Observer. I’m still not clear; Snopes is the one that says it’s fake. I am still looking around the site.
Okay, I dug around the SMO and it does look like a fake site, with barely any actual articles. I clicked “classified ads” and it h as many categories, with no ads.
So.... looks fake.
After a bit more delving on the SMO, it looks as though it’s one of those free weekly papers many cities have, and their online site doesn’t bother with advertising, and that explains why not a lot of articles, it’s printed once a week.
It is a leftist site/paper whatever it is. Who knows whether the RBG stuff is true but time will tell. Since it’s free, they have no reason to have big news to sell it. Maybe if there are any FReeQers in the Santa Monica area they can report back.
