I don’t actually lump “first responders” in with the military. First responders in our country risk their lives and limbs less than pizza deliverymen, loggers, taxicab drivers, farmers, etc.—for far greater pay and benefits.

The military are in a special category because they have put themselves in line for war and all that entails. And we should not needlessly be sacrificing their lives and health the way that we do.
