Years ago, a friend of my wife’s told her they came home early and heard the parrot asking the dog if it wanted to go outside, and the dog dutifully scratching at the door.

Parrot probably thought it was funny to order the dog around the house. Birdbrain does not apply to parrots. You can tell they’re working things out.

My daughter has a cockatiel, which we’re stuck with the winged rat since her roommates don’t want any pets.

One day, my brothers Retriever/Shepherd/Rottweiler mix dog was over.

The bird was out of his cage and landed on a table. The dog looked over the tabletop and the bird hammered the dog’s snout with his beak.

The dog inhaled the entire bird into his mouth, held it for a second or two then spewed it out.

For as long as the dog lived, whenever it was at our house, the bird wouldn’t even make eye contact with it.
