Interesting how the land/most of the land, of what is now Arlington Cemetery, once belonged to the Robert E Lee family.

Here is an article about the 27 acre expansion.

(Don’t know if it’s been posted already)

Arlington National Cemetery adds 27 acres to extend its lifespan through 2050

Someone mentioned tunnels from Pentagon to Arlington upthread.

Russians were zeroed in on a hot dog stand(now a cafe)in the middle of the courtyard at the Pentagon.

There was so much foot traffic in and out of there that the Russians were convinced there was an underground bunker beneath it.

(Maybe there was)

Arlington was the family home of Mary Custis, Lee's wife and the Grand daughter of Martha Washington. Mrs. Lee inherited Arlington House from her father after he died in 1857.
