Aha, so “defendant” means Gen. Flynn; I thought it meant Mueller. So any legal docs Flynn has are called 302s as well? I thought a 302 was just the notes Feebs make when interviewing/interrogating someone.
The Judge's order was that he wanted to see the 302's, and they could be filed with his court by Mueller or Flynn. Mueller handed over a 302, but it was the one that was created 6 months after the fact. Flynn may have copies of 302s that he was given during discovery (following the judge's order that all exculpatory evidence be given to Flynn). If he does, he may have offered to provide his copies to the judge, and wants to do it under seal so that Mueller is not mad at him for disclosing info that Mueller thinks is secret. Flynn is still subject to Mueller's inquisition, and is trying to keep from giving an excuse for some other harsh treatment.
The 302s are the FBI-generated reports of a witness interview. That is their only meaning.
