NICK I was drawn by your comment of “not religious”. That means a lot of different things to different people
Some are believers but just not active in a religious group. some (like me) are believers but do NOT follow ritual (thus the religion part) but consider themselves believers. Some are agnostic and some atheists.
I have a lot of friends who have been deeply hurt via affiliation with various church groups. The pain is real and hard to shake. A couple post a lot on facebook and I cry for them.
Im currently w/o a local group. had such wonderful churches in Fremont OH *5 years) Winston Salem (15 yrs) and OKC (4 years). I can’t seem to find a fit locally. I am NOT that picky but don’t like going through empty motions.
And this is someone with a ministerial degree (earned the hard way w/4 years seminary) ...not mail order 50$ Ddiv. Don’t want to go into a lot of detail but I do miss the fellowship of close Christian friends. Small groups. Relevant worship.
I do bible readings/study myself. Im not a fallen away soul but just not affiliated with any group at this point
I read once a book that discussed that all people are religious.. Their “religion/God” just might not be a deity but something secular. Where we put our time, love, money, enthusiasm.
