There is purported technology that--if one has the coordinates in space and time, one can call up a holographic video of what went on/is going on at those coordinates in space and time.

Do you understand the implications of that? That's the stuff of high sci-fi.

I realize the implications to some degree.

The source was dead serious.

Then there's Ben Rich's statement at his retirement from heading Lockheed Skunkworks:

"If you can imagine it, we can already do it."

However, even if we "merely" considered the massive NSA data collection of all electricity based communications--even merely because of that--there is no longer any privacy, or secrecy.

I read a sci-fi novel in which video of everything that happened on earth was recorded. It was stored in a network of spherical alien pods which surrounded the entire solar system. The AI which controlled everything, and which knew everything that was going to happen, was called Q.

I don't recall the title.
