George W was a fine President.

His tax relief was MASSIVE. The Unified Credit for inheritance when he took office was 600k. He raised that massively. He also passed tax reform that lowered dividend taxation from ordinary income to 15%, he also cut cap gains taxes by nearly half.

In the face of terrorism, he committed the nation and the world to fight back, essentially a world war against terror. He’s the first president in ages that had the guts to take the damn gloves off.

Bush also instituted the no child left behind act and was literally single handedly responsible for improving schools in our country.

He also brought dignity back to the office after the disgusting perversions of Bill Clinton.

I’m sick of Freeps that constantly piss on GW for this that and the other thing. Fact is, he was a very good President.

> improving schools in our country.

Why don’t standardized tests include history and our Constitution? Is there a reason for that you think?

I believe W was a good president, but an establishment president. He told Cruz he represented the establishment.

He responded strongly to terrorism, but protected the Saudi royal family, and got us in a second war before we finished in Iraq.

We are still there, having spent trillions. He launched a war on "terrorism" which is unwinnable and has no end. It is like the war on poverty.

According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report published in October 2007, the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could cost taxpayers a total of $2.4 trillion by 2017 when counting the huge interest costs because combat is being financed with borrowed money.

He also brought dignity back to the office after the disgusting perversions of Bill Clinton.

And then welcomed Clinton into his family and gave him respect.

...

While he did many commendable things, it remains to be seen what emerges in this process.

I hope he was not just a good president, but actually a good person too.

Life is messy and no man is perfect. Whether we remember them with respect or scorn depends on the specific acts - often behind the scenes.

Time will tell.
