Why would you consider buying a modem that in all probability allows Chinese intelligence to read your data, and in the event of cyber warfare would turn your computer against you like an insane, homicidal, flying blender with bad intentions?

Seriously, Huawei has been banned for years in markets where Homeland Security can exercise influence (such as international cable landing stations). If serious cyber warfare breaks out, I have a hunch we will all find our computers have been compromised with sleeper viruses. But why make it easier for them?

China is our next major war.
