Mr. Trump does have the advantage of history, having been in a position to observe what happened to Mr. Nixon. I want to say standing on the shoulders of giants, but there haven’t been many giants, except perhaps Reagan, and even he was apparently naive.

Hard to say about Reagan. Otherwise, agree. A relative knew some dangerous-to-know dirt on Reagan from his Governorship time. I personally think Reagan may have been somewhat naive but he was also kowtowed to the oligarchy and played a role—suitable for an actor.
