LIsa....Military, federal make announcement with the SC Department of Corrections for a press conference Wednesday morning....

Lorri.....Prisoners exhorting money from military service members using cell phones from prison. Indictments unsealed also for same reason for others outside the prison system. Did not state names.

this may have sent ‘dog whistles’ to a certain group of future inmates

1. track cell phones FOR YEARS to conduct the ‘sting’

2. Criminals thought they were SAFE to commit extortion.

3. Child pornography

4. Block inmates cell phones in prison. 5. Show prison facility(?)

Helen.....Update: Little boom. Unsealing 15 indictments that had to do with prison inmates using cell phones to extort money from military men. $560,000 total. Law enforcement wants Congress to give these detention centers the ability to jam their contraband cell phones.

TFaucette.....This one works. BTW, this was NOT a "nothingburger" as some have stated. This is a very serious issue. What good does it do to incarcerate criminals, if they can continue their nefarious business from prisons?

Us Attorney, military investigation services to hold press conference Wednesday at 10:30a.m. at the Department of Corrections.

That's good, but why the hell do they have cell phones in the first place? What kind of detection & monitoring is going on by the prison authorities that lets cell phones slip through & extortion rings to carry on? Or are the prison guards involved?
