Unfortunately, I share your assessment on the first statement as it relates to Rs. I am not sure that it applies to the Ds. The key factor is the MSM propaganda. Unfortunately, we have seen in this last election (even factoring in much voter fraud), that the MSM has too much impact. While Trump educates the populace, many of the public are unduly influenced by the MSM. This is particularly true of the young voters. This is a topic that bears much discussion.
With regard to Comey, I would suggest the following strategies:
1. Allow Comey to testify in open session.
2. Have the president release material relating to Comey as he is sitting down in from of the house. Have Trump brief the chairman of the committee the night before as to what is contained in the material. (Better yet, to make this above board - release this info to the chairman and ranking member plus 1 or 2 others on each side simultaneously just before the testimony and have Comey wait.)
3. Announce that Trump released the material and give a copy to Comey noting that he will be asked about this since it is now public information.
4. Question Comey about any relevant items.
5. If there are some items that cannot be discussed in the open session - then immediately go into closed session. Then maybe can back into open session. One thing I am not sure about, if Comey is there in front of Congress, can the subpoena force Comey to stay and testify. Can marshalls (or relevant enforcement) force him to do so?
