In every culture there are people who don’t love their children, but for most this looks more like Moses discovered in the reeds and going to live in Pharoah’s house. Many around the world truly believe we live a fairy tale life in the US (and in some cases, we do, by comparison). They also have had an enduring hopelessness in their own countries.

Going to the US is like winning the lottery for your children, grandchildren and more. Most parents will make sacrifices like this for their children as a selfless act. The problem in this case is they have been given bad information and are being manipulated.

Good points all. In some ways the first step to dehumanizing your enemy is to depict them as not loving their children. Take the Palestinians - do they love their children? Why do they grow up to be suicide bombers? Inducements, blackmail, threats.
