The sad, shocking story behind the Jonestown massacre, 40 years later
Yahoo TV/Entertainment ^ | November 16, 2018 | Ethan Alter Senior Writer, Yahoo Entertainment

...author Jeff Guinn, who wrote the 2017 book The Road to Jonestown.

...Guinn expressed some regret that the Jonestown massacre has become such a ubiquitous reference point, inspiring such oft-heard phrases as, “Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.” “First of all, it wasn’t Kool-Aid,” he notes. “And second, let’s face what the connotation is; it’s used to mean, ‘Don’t be a mindless zombie who just automatically follows orders from an obviously demented leader.’...

...We spoke with Guinn about the details that are often left out when Jonestown is discussed, and what parallels he sees between Jim Jones and a leader like Donald Trump...

Jeff Guinn: ...There were three huge surprises for me during the more than three years I spent researching. The first one involved Jim Jones. I had no idea that he had been such a great leader in the American civil rights movement. He and his wife almost singlehandedly ended total racial discrimination in Indianapolis, which was one of the most segregated major cities in America. There’s always an element of fraud there... But he accomplished all these good things that I’d had absolutely no idea about until I got to Indianapolis.

The second thing was that the quality of the people who joined Jim Jones and became members of Peoples Temple included some of the most intelligent, talented and socially committed people you’d find anywhere. These weren’t dummies just falling into place; they really believed in what Jones was preaching.

And the third thing is that the mental image most people have of what happened that day, 40 years ago, is that you had almost 900 people in line obediently drinking these cups of poison and falling over dead.... They hadn’t taken the poison voluntarily... So we’re talking mass murder as much or more so than mass suicide...

Whatever he did after a certain time in his life... he was hooked on power. Whatever he did to try to help people was to keep them tied to him. He would not let his wife leave or do anything separate from him. The reason he had them drink the drink, was they found out what he was doing and was coming to get the people out of there. He killed them rather than give them freedom. He had them practice the drinking before it was the real thing.. and they did not know this last one was real. They just obeyed him.

Trump cult- like. Have they forgotten the songs they had kids for Obama singing in school like he was a god? The media is so part of the problem. The example of the frog is a perfect way to describe those who watch or get their news from the msm.

**These weren’t dummies just falling into place; they really believed in what Jones was preaching.***

NOTHING jim jones did after he became a mad man,... NOTHING he did was for anyone but himself and power.

When he was a kid, he would go to church with anyone who would take him with them. He’d sit on the front row and have his bible with him. He took it seriously.. he didn’t know much.. just that it was better than what he had at home. In school, he did not have friends.. didn’t seem to want any. He was definitely different and strange.

He took that and made a temple for people who would serve him. He took it to a country, where they could not find him and stop him. Then a senator began an investigation and jones went off the deep end believing he was losing it all. That poison acted immediately... they did not know what was happening .. they cooperated and trusted the wrong person.

Fake News is broadcasting the same hysteria against Trump that Jones used to broadcast against America.

After all that, I’m surprised Kool-Aid is still in business.

I always show the photo of Rosalynn Carter with JJ to those who try to make the case that Republicans have more in common with JJ than Dems. Leaves them sputtering.

Jones was a socialist like today’s democrats. He didn’t have anything in common with president Trump or his supporters. The media should look to obama and his mindless minions if they want a comparison to Jim Jones. They were both frauds.

For all the info refuting the anti-Trump nonsense, and the pics of the Dem notables with Jim Jones.

A buddy of mine was in the army unit that had to go into Jonestown and clear the bodies.

This is what socialism will bring you. Every time.

They knew pretty quickly it was real. The audio tapes captured a lot of pain and sorrow that day.

It wasn’t a quick death, 5 minutes and it’s all over.

The DNC media did NOT mark the 40th anniversary of Bill Ayers bombing the Pentagon.

In 2012 his protege was running for re-election to the White House and tgat association would’ve harmed his chances.

Near the end the author (who’s also done a Manson book which puts him in the exploitive death cult novelist camp) says he’s scared about yhe modern times. He doesn’t mention Trump but that’s the implication in several of tge articles.

Yet Obama said perception is truth. And there’s still that pesky COMMUNISM they don’t want to discuss. They are too blown away by the promise that they don’t look at the 100,000,000 dead and say maybe it isn’t all they say it is.

What you need to know about Jim Jones is that he was best friends with Nancy and Diane and Willie and Jerry. The “church” people were goats for the slaughter required by Moloch. Nancy became big after Jonestown.
