I swear the most beautiful sound in the universe is when I drive up and hear those grandkids scream “GRANNYYYYYY!”

***********

I, too, am Granny! At 3-years-old, he is becoming too heavy for me to tote around to all the mirrors looking for the handsome boy. My heart ‘bout bursts when he says, “Granny! Let’s go dig in the dirt. Granny! Let’s play the piano. Granny! (fill in the blank).” Or “Granny, you’re so sweet. I love you.”

to paraphrase...

If I had known how much fun grandkids were, I would have been nicer to their parents.

I know, right?!?

I remember waiting for me babies to say "mama" but that is so very pale in comparison to "Granny!" :)

And those grandchildren drive me to doing all this political activism. I'd rather be gardening, cooking, crocheting, etc, but Congress needs calling, I need to stay informed and during election seasons I volunteer for Godly candidates. This may indicate that I am not patriot enough, but I would not motivate myself to do these things if not considering my grandchildren's future.
