"Times have changed. No reason to keep using it."

There's no sound reason to abandon a century+ old, well-established, and accurately descriptive term.

I might consider shelving it, but, only

  1. When every Wetback who is here -- polluting our sovereignty and gobbling up our $$$$$$ is back in the hellhole from whence they came.

  2. When there are zero Wetbacks invading our country.

Meanwhile, take your PCBS to DU -- where it might be appreciated.

(See tagline..)

Personally, I don’t see it as a problem with political correctness. In the town where I grew up, there were many Americans of Hispanic dissent. In school, some students who wanted to abuse others would accuse them of being “wetbacks.” In fact, our bus driver was called “wetback” by a student (yeah, we sat in a motionless bus for a lonnnng time until the student was identified).

The term became “racist” because of its misapplication (i.e., to imply all who are of Mexican dissent must have swam here illegally) So I grew up genuinely disliking the term from it’s misuse. I agree times have changed and prefer to avoid a term open to charges of racism. Just my two pesos. (see what I did there?)
