As Earth's tectonic plates dive beneath one another, they drag three times as much water into the planet's interior as previously thought. I guess that means those of us who live on the coast don't have to worry about sea level rises. - Tom

You're screwed one way of the other.
As the seas retreat and are swallowed up, the land becomes drier, and you end up with fires, like in California.
