Luckily I have inherited my dad’s 1992 MTD riding mower. It has three bags and it’s a monster. The best time to do a lot of leaves is when they’re slightly wet believe it or not. It weighs them down so you don’t have to empty the bag as much. I looked at those big attached baggers but they want crazy money for them. I’ve never tried mulching them, I think I have way too maney to do that.

I mulch 'em every year...And I have a lot of them...At first I would mulch them and then go over them with the bagger...Get so much more into the bags that way...Finally quit that and just mulch now...If they are really thick, I'll go over them twice...After a short time the mulched leaves filter down between the blades of grass...Works great...

I’ll give that a shot next year. I need to get her in for service either soon after the leaves are done or early next year. I’ll get mulching blades put on and see how it goes!

Pops had me doing our enormous yard with a push mower and bag. Front yard was smaller by far than back. In the fall and spring it took forever, spring particularly because he’d fertilize and I’d have to cut the front again shortly after finishing the back.

Ironically, now I love to mow grass, human powered reel, push mower or lawn tractor, but my condo doesn’t have a yard and my Nevada place is fit for only weed eater (which I like too) in the few acres i actually sleep and do stuff on...
