China’s government is also heavily involved in the slave trade, allowing unwitting citizens to believe they are emigrating but in actuality selling them into slavery.
And slavery means triaging the emigrants. The ones suitable for sex trade are separated. Some will be suitable for domestic service. Perhaps some of the men are suitable for labor, I don’t know. Some have assets which the slaver will extract through coercion including torture. When the assets are extracted the slave joins the group deemed unusable. These are literally dropped to the bottom of the deep blue sea.
I got this from a novel I read. It was from the early 2000s. It was a novel but with enough detail to let you know that this IS a problem, and if it was a problem then it must be a monstrous (genocidal) problem now.
