“The Conners” is already in trouble.
The trades report without editorial comment that ABC has ordered only more episode to be added to the ten it already contracted for this season.
A full half season order is 13, which means ABC didn’t even fill that out. And they most certainly didn’t ask for a number like 22 which would take “The Conners” to the end of the current TV season next spring.
The 1 episode order makes me think it’s just a finale to the ten as a good will gesture. And then “The Conners” would go back to the mists of TV’s own walking dead.
So far, “The Conners” ratings have been less than spectacular. The first episode brought in 11 million viewers, the second week dropped to 7 million. If the drop continues, it may be too expensive to keep around, given John Goodman’s and Laurie Metcalf’s salaries.

Not one single cast member defended Roseanne.
May they enjoy the unemployment line.
However, Roseanne will be back doing
something new.
ABC sabotaged its own massive hit show and it promptly failed.
Congratulations ABC. Great move.
It stinks. Sad to watch ‘rats on a sinking ship. Roseanne will have the last laugh as these loser actors go into oblivion.
This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I read so many stories on how the writers hated Roseanne, how she was really resented for the Trump stories. It’s called hubris.
The left really thinks it owns the world. They are always shocked to find out they don’t. They go nuts, they can’t figure it out, like in 2016 when they all went out and screamed.
I’m borrowing this from a comment I saw someone make elsewhere, but I think it would be very funny.

I find it interesting that though they had banned even all Roseanne reruns immediately after the brouhaha, lately they were on again. Likely they were running them as prelude backup hype for their “The Conners”. As usual it looks like typical leftist hypocrisy. I hope Roseanne good gets paid for the playing of the reruns.
So who exactly is the audience for this show?
Maybe the delusionals? Liberals who want to see conservatives portrayed as their straw-man fantasies of what conservatives are? That's been done - and done - and done...
Best thing ABC could do is sell the show to FOX and let it be done right...
It's an interesting concept - ONE primetime show for the half of Americans who are NOT liberals... just might be a success.
Even better - - hire conservative writers ...

Reading there, you’d think the show was doing terribly and was doomed, instead of ABC’s top rated show.
Won’t they all be surprised when it’s renewed?
