The point is there is no postmark over the stamp, so it was never in a Post Office facility.

The point is there is no postmark over the stamp, so it was never in a Post Office facility. The post office either cancels by machine or by hand. A bulky package like that will not go through the machine, so it is up to some clerk to cancel by hand. That's not always done. I get lots of large bulky envelopes with uncanceled or partly canceled stamps. Usually the senders are using old stamps bought at less than face value to save money.

I’ve gotten envelopes and packages from the post office that haven’t been cancelled. Some slip by in sorting so this isn’t proof that it was hand delivered.
