Did any other president make such determined mid-term campaign swings? I know both President Johnsons did quite a bit of in 1866 and 1966 but failed to meet their expectations. Mr. Nixon toured some too in 1970, but Edmund S. Muskie framed the majority in his famous election-eve appearance.
